Services

Podiatrists are doctors who provide medical services so our patients can have healthy feet, toes, and lower legs. To achieve this mission, we do the following:

  • Diagnose and treat pain, deformities, injuries, diseases, and disorders in the lower limbs
  • Perform surgeries to correct problems (when conservative care doesn’t work)
  • Prescribe appropriate therapy and diagnostic procedures
  • Prescribe and fit orthotics
  • Educate patients on proper hygiene, care, and exercise for optimal health and well-being
  • Consult with other doctors and specialists to provide patients with a collaborative approach to healthcare

To be more specific about the services we offer here at Lakes Foot & Ankle Associates, you can think of it like this—we are your one-stop, all-inclusive podiatric practice.

And you will see exactly what that means as we explain our “Signature Podiatric Circle Of Care.”

Signature Podiatric Circle of Care

To start, we call it a “circle” because you are surrounded with everything you could need with regard to foot and ankle care. We provide you with this comfort and assurance by:
  • Providing comprehensive services to diagnose and treat lower limb problems
  • Helping you maintain a healthy state after problems have been resolved
  • Offering educational resources so you can make the best possible decisions for your health and lifestyle goals
This means we use proven and advanced tools and techniques in diagnosing and treating most foot and ankle pathology. Depending on the type of problem you are experiencing, conservative (non-surgical) treatment measures can range from padding, taping, shoe changes, oral medication, topical mediation, orthotics, cast immobilization, laser therapy, physical therapy, etc.! As you’ll see, one particular treatment we are especially excited to offer is our MLS laser therapy—which is a revolutionary, versatile option for healing soft tissue injuries.

Advanced Diagnostic Testing

The first step in helping you find resolution for foot pain or dysfunction is to properly identify the root cause of the problem. With that being the case, we are proud to use both digital X-rays and ultrasound to provide accurate diagnoses.

With our digital X-ray system, we are able to produce images with higher resolution than traditional methods—and at a significantly faster processing speed.

Our diagnostic podiatry ultrasound can enable us to evaluate various soft tissue pathologies in real-time, while also helping to guide us for more precise injections when that treatment is performed.

MLS® Laser Therapy

When you have an injury or physical condition affecting your mobility and quality of life, we have a single goal:

Get you back to your everyday activities in the shortest amount of time possible (while ensuring complete healing).

To achieve this mission, our clinic is proud to be on the medical technological forefront by offering MLS laser therapy.

Put simply, MLS laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light that have a strong anti-inflammatory, anti-edema effect on tissues that are exposed to the laser. Painful conditions accompanied by swelling or inflammation benefit greatly from this advanced technology.

As a result of exposure to the MLS Laser, the cells of tendons, ligaments and muscles repair themselves faster.  As inflammation is reduced, pain subsides very quickly.  In simple terms, laser energy kick-starts the healing process, thereby speeding recovery.

Laser therapy is cleared by the FDA, and is safe and effective. (There are no known side-effects!)

Sports Medicine Management

We hope you lead an active lifestyle. Why? Because regular exercise has an abundance of benefits for your entire health and well-being.

The downside to physical activity, however, is that it always carries at least a certain degree of injury risk.

But we have good news—most foot and ankle sports injuries don’t need surgery!

In fact, we’ve found tremendous success with MLS laser therapy and orthotic therapy to manage injuries and prevent injuries. With regard to orthotic therapy, we prescribe custom made Sole Supports Orthotics to improve foot position and promote better biomechanics. These are both key factors in many lower limb injuries, which explains why orthotic therapy is so effective in helping prevent injury.

HyProCure™ Sinus Tarsi Implant Technology

Whereas orthotics can be used to reposition a foot from an external basis, we also have an option to do so internally—and that is a revolutionary treatment for pediatric and adult “flat foot” deformity.

The HyProCure implant is a titanium stent that serves to realign the bones of the hindfoot and, in doing so, provide more natural alignment to the rest of the body.

This stent is placed in a naturally-occurring pocket, lasts forever, and is completely reversible. Further, it can be used for anyone over the age of three who has a flexible deformity that causes pain and difficulty.

*This is a surgical procedure that may or may not be covered by insurance.

Cutera GenesisPlus Laser

If you are one of the roughly 30 million Americans who have contracted a case of toenail fungus (onychomycosis), you may feel embarrassed or self-conscious when you’re barefoot or wear sandals and open-toed shoes. That’s pretty normal, but you can do something about it!

There have been many fungal toenail treatments developed and used throughout the years. The gold standard was previously a combination of oral and topical medication—but technology has given you a much better option:

Laser treatment for fungal nails!

Our office is proud to offer the Cutera GenesisPlus Laser, which is the finest laser system available for the management of fungal nail disease. (It’s also used for scar management and wart treatment.)

The powerful—yet painless—laser energy is able to eradicate the infectious fungus, while at the same time promoting growth of healthy, clear nail tissue. Sessions only take around 30 minutes and you’re able to walk out our front door and go straight into your regular activities!

Comprehensive Diabetic Foot Care Program

Diabetes affects the body in a variety of ways, including an increased risk for serious medical complications (such as Charcot foot and diabetic foot ulcers). We want you to be safe and healthy, so we offer:
  • Extensive patient education regarding diabetic foot care
  • Aggressive wound management including “total contact casting” (the gold standard for wound healing)
  • A high quality diabetic shoe program

Office-Based Surgery

The hope is always to use conservative care to properly and completely address the problem you are experiencing. The reality, though, is that sometimes surgery is the best path forward.

In the event you and your doctor decide that surgery is necessary as part of your treatment, you can rest assured in knowing that the methods used will be current and performed in such a manner as to get you back on your feet in the shortest possible amount of time. (Most of our surgical procedures allow you to walk immediately after the surgery is performed!)

The majority of foot and ankle surgeries are performed at a hospital or outpatient surgery center.  Another fabulous and money-saving option is to have your foot/ankle surgery performed at our on-site Lakes SurgiCare Center.

About our SurgiCare Center:

  • It abides by Joint Commission rules and standards
  • We are able to offer local anesthesia surgery (you are awake during the procedure)
  • Your procedure is going to be safer (reduced chance of infection), less time consuming, and you will receive a greater level of personal care
  • It’s a far less expensive option (compared to hospitals)
